Philanthropist of the Year Nominations being accepted

To honor those who volunteer to make our communities better, the McPherson County Community Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce nominations for the Philanthropist of the Year award are now being accepted September 1 – October 15, 2015.

This year, applications may be completed and submitted by local residents. Previously nominations were submitted by organizations. “The change was made in an effort to increase the numbers of applications received and recognize people for their overall work not necessarily tied to one organization,” stated Becky Goss, MCCF President/CEO.

Finalists are given the opportunity to name a McPherson County organization or group to receive a grant from the Foundation’s Community Fund to use for project or operational expenses. Grants are $1000 for the first place nominee; $750 for the second place nominee; and $500 for the third place nominee.

To nominate the philanthropic efforts of a volunteer, submit the Philanthropist of the Year nomination form and include a one page narrative describing the volunteer’s role. Information to consider including in the narrative:

  • what type of volunteer work has the applicant performed;
  • how long has this person volunteered for your organization;
  • what qualities make this person a philanthropist.

Selected philanthropists and organizations will be announced at the McPherson County Community Foundation’s Recognition Reception to be held Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Opera House Theatre, McPherson.

The postmark deadline for nominations is Thursday, October 16, 2015. A nomination form may be obtained at https://mcpfoundation.wpengine.com/programs/philanthropist-of-the-year.  For questions, please call the Foundation office at 620.245.9070 or toll free at 1.866.245.9070.
