Funds Funds List | Establishing a Fund | Ways to Give Anyone can make a gift to the Foundation. Donors to the Foundation come from a variety of backgrounds with a common commitment to the community’s well being. Whether creating a named fund, contributing to an existing fund, making a gift in memory of a friend or loved one, or making an unrestricted gift to the Community Fund for McPherson county, every person in the community can make a difference. Donor Advised Funds - This type of fund allows the donor and his or her heirs to recommend grants for a different charitable purpose each year providing great flexibility to the donor while avoiding the costs and demands of a private foundation. The donor recommends the recipients of earnings from a donor advised fund. Qualified recipients are organizations with a 501(c)3 designation located throughout the United States or foreign country. Designated Funds - At the time the fund is established, the donor selects the recipient organization. Each year, grant distributions are made to the designated organization for use as determined by their board. Field of Interest Funds - These are funds that support broad charitable causes, such as youth, the arts, health or other interests. A donor who has no preference for a particular charitable organization may establish a named fund in a general area of interest. He or she may suggest grant recipients or may ask the Foundation to make grants to the most appropriate programs within that area based on submitted applications. Scholarship Funds - Funds to support educational opportunities for individuals to pursue a post-secondary degree. Agency Funds - Established by an organization to provide ongoing support for their operations or programs. Unrestricted Funds - with our ever-changing community needs and priorities, it is the Unrestricted gift that is the most valuable and enduring for a community. Unrestricted funds are for donors who have broad community interests and want to give the Foundation the most flexibility in directing the donor's resources toward challenges and opportunities in the county.
