04 Apr Mastermind Categories: How do they fit with our other grants?
Last week we discussed how we categorized the priorities our communities presented through the Mastermind McPherson County survey last year. An interesting look at how we’ve continued the mastermind process into our daily work through the grants from both our Community ‘Dream’ Fund and the David J. Nutt Fund for Lindsborg.
While the yearly Mastermind McPherson County grants process is specifically to address the priorities of the survey, that doesn’t mean that’s where funding stops. Our grants process is open for applicants every other month and has the goal of helping address community needs. Needs that are now known because of this survey data.
“What’s an example of a grant released after Mastermind that fits the Health category?”
There have been five released from our ‘Dream’ Fund that fit this ideal perfectly:
$5,000 – McPherson Hospital Electronic Medical Record system replacement
$5,000 matching – Bluestem PACE Muscle Scraping Therapy Equipment
$6,000 – Central Christian College AED Project
$10,000 – Valley Hope of Moundridge Gym annex
$1,000 – Community Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners
All these grants address our overall community health in different ways. Bluestem and McPherson hospital are self-explanatory, in how they affect healthcare, but think about food security and how providing a meal during the holidays might affect nutrition. looking from the top down a lot of things can be beneficial to community health.
The grants that we release every other month are one of the biggest ways we can impact our communities and the organizations that operates within them. This survey data gives us the advantage of knowing what our community is using to benchmark success and how we can best fit into that equation.
