Childcare Zones Grant Provides Technology Update for Licensed Centers

Child care providers in McPherson and Marion counties will soon have access to new technology funding thanks to the recent Child Care Zones award.

The funding will support the purchase of computers and tablets, allowing providers to take full advantage of Brightwheel and Playground, child care management systems offered through Child Care Aware of Kansas. These digital tools are designed to simplify daily operations, reduce paperwork and give providers more time to focus on children and families.

The investment aims to ease the administrative burden that often falls heavily on small centers and in-home providers. With updated technology, providers can better manage enrollment, track subsidies, handle food program requirements and streamline billing. The replacement of outdated technology is also important as older hardware is less likely to receive security updates. Old computer are often slow and unreliable for the day to day needs of business use.

“This funding is about equipping providers with the tools they need to be sustainable,” said Betsy Davis. “Reliable technology helps providers focus more time on children and families instead of paperwork.”

All licensed child care providers in McPherson and Marion counties are eligible to apply. A technology needs survey will be released soon to help guide the process. Those interested in the grants should contact Betsy Davis Betsy@McPhersonFoundation.org
