Foundation Funds: Senior Centers

Foundation Funds: Senior Centers

Last year the McPherson Senior Center received a grant to address needed flooring changes in multiple rooms in their facility.

One of the strengths of community foundations is the ability to support many different kinds of organizations. Through donor gifts, grant funding, and organization-managed funds, the McPherson County Community Foundation has helped local groups in a wide range of ways. With our new series, “Foundation Funds,” we are taking a closer look at the organizations that have received support during the foundation’s 25 years.

Today, we’re highlighting funding that has supported local senior centers. These centers often serve as gathering places for multiple generations, but their primary focus is creating a welcoming space for older adults. They host activities, provide opportunities for connection, and most importantly, serve senior meals. Those meals play an important role in addressing food insecurity, which can affect the elderly at higher rates.

The foundation is proud to continue supporting these organizations as they provide essential services to communities across McPherson County.
