If March came and went and you felt like you were forgetting something, you’re not alone.
Earlier this year, we announced that our annual countywide matching event would be moving from its traditional week in March to a monthlong event in the fall. Since we’ve heard from a few people who may have missed that announcement, we put together this FAQ to answer some of the most common questions about the new Match Month.
Did I miss Match Week?
No, but we understand the worry. We recognize that our matching events are great capacity builders for the nonprofits you love. Don’t worry, that opportunity to give your support is still around!
What is changing with Match Week?
Our traditional Match Week is becoming Match Month. Beginning in Oct. 2026, MCCF will combine its separate matching events for McPherson County, Inman, and Moundridge into one monthlong giving campaign called Match Month.
Why is MCCF making this change?
MCCF is expanding the event to better reflect how donors engage with matching opportunities and to provide more flexibility for both donors and participating organizations. The longer giving window will allow donors more time to contribute and access multiple matching opportunities throughout the month. This change will also allow for the Foundation to better include other county communities to participate in the event.
When will Match Month take place?
Match Month will take place during a 30-day period spanning from Oct. 10 to Nov. 10
Has the timing changed from previous years?
Yes. Previously, McPherson County Match Week was held during the first week of March. Beginning in 2026, Match Month will move to the fall and take place during October and November.
Will matching opportunities still be community-specific?
Yes. Donations made to an organization in your community will still be matched by that communities matching opportunities. All match eligible organizations will be able to receive a match from one of our many available matching opportunities.
Will each community still receive special recognition during Match Month?
Yes. MCCF will continue to designate specific weeks that highlight each community’s matching opportunities. These designated periods will also include in-person giving events.
Why was the event moved to the fall?
The move aligns Match Month more closely with the charitable giving season and MCCF’s other matching initiatives. The final quarter of the year is traditionally an important time for charitable giving, making it a natural fit for a larger countywide campaign.
Will there still be in-person giving events?
Yes. MCCF plans to continue hosting in-person giving events as part of the designated community spotlight weeks. Of course, gifts can always be delivered to the Foundations office (1233 N. Main) throughout the week.
How can I stay informed about Match Month updates?
MCCF will announce additional details later this year, including participating organizations, matching amounts, and specific dates and times. The best places to follow for info on the event will be on the Foundations Facebook page.
