17 Sep Foundation now accepting nominations for Philanthropist of the Year

The McPherson County Community Foundation is now accepting nominations for its Philanthropist of the Year award, and the Foundation is asking the community to help shine a light on the individuals who are making a difference across McPherson County.
Originally established in 2005 as the Volunteer of the Year award, the honor recognizes individuals who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to their communities through philanthropy, community service and support of local projects and organizations.
The Foundation encourages community members, nonprofits and organizations to use this opportunity to nominate someone whose efforts have made a meaningful impact — whether through time, resources, leadership or simply a willingness to step up when their community needed them.
Nominations will be accepted through Oct. 15. Following the nomination period, the MCCF Board of Directors will review the submissions and select the 2026 Philanthropist of the Year. The recipient will be announced in November.
In previous years, the Foundation has recognized award recipients through an in-person ceremony. This year, the Foundation will take a more personal approach, presenting the award recipient at the Foundation office. As part of the recognition, the recipient will also receive a grant that can be directed to one or more organizations or projects they support.
Former McPherson County Community Foundation CEO was given the award in 2025.
“We are looking for individuals who have gone above and beyond in helping their community,” said Michelle Huddle, MCCF CEO. “This award isn’t about the amount of time or money that this person has provided, but about the total impact of their efforts.”
The Foundation is looking for stories that demonstrate that impact. Nominees do not need to have a formal title or be widely recognized. They simply need to be someone whose actions have helped make their community a better place.
To nominate someone, email your responses to the following questions to Info@McPhersonFoundation.org by Oct. 15:
- Who are you nominating for Philanthropist of the Year?
- What impact has this individual made recently that has positively affected your organization or community?
- What else should the Foundation know about this individual? Share examples of other ways they have contributed to or made an impact in their community.
The McPherson County Community Foundation recognizes that strong communities are built by individuals willing to invest their time, talents and resources in the people and places around them. Through this award, the Foundation hopes to celebrate those individuals and give the community an opportunity to say thank you for the difference they have made.
