22 Oct Foundation Awards Reverse Scholarship
Last month, the McPherson County Community Foundation awarded a reverse scholarship to Jason Palmer, general manager of Dacus Towing & Recovery, to help support his family’s return to McPherson County.
Palmer and his wife, Abby, both attended Central Christian College before moving away from the area to begin their careers. Now, they’re excited to return to McPherson and raise their four children in the community where they first built connections.
“Abby and I are excited to return to McPherson, Kansas! We enjoyed our college years at Central and are excited to raise our four children in McPherson. We’re excited to be a part of our neighborhood, walking Main Street, and participating in the church scene,” Palmer said. “I’m looking forward to investing in the Dacus team! This scholarship will help our young, growing family settle in for years to come. Thanks, McPherson County Community Foundation.”
Through the Foundation’s reverse scholarship program, Palmer will have an incentive to remain in McPherson County, with two additional payments available over the next two years. The program is designed to help attract and retain professionals in the county by easing the transition for those choosing to build their careers and lives here.
Palmer’s award marks the final McPherson County Reverse Scholarship available during the Foundation’s current fiscal year. Additional applications may be accepted as funding becomes available or beginning July 1, 2027, when the new fiscal year starts.
For those seeking other educational and career development support, additional opportunities are available. One example is the Kansas American Tooling Scholarship, which helps eligible incoming tradespeople cover qualifying education, tool and equipment expenses through reimbursements.
The Foundation is proud to support programs that help individuals and families put down roots in McPherson County and contribute to the future of our communities.
