25th Anniversary Inman Grants Update

25th Anniversary Inman Grants Update

We have an update on the 25th Anniversary Grants awarded to communities across McPherson County. Today, we’re highlighting two grants awarded in Inman, totaling $2,500.

Gone Fishing

The first grant helped the Inman Lions Club purchase fish to stock the pond for the annual Inman Fishing Derby, held at the end of June.

Designed for children ages 14 and under, the derby depends on stocking the pond beforehand to give young anglers the best chance to catch fish during the competition. According to Inman Lions Club member Bob Ratzlaf, for some participants, the derby is their very first opportunity to catch a fish.

This year’s event welcomed 36 registered participants ranging in age from 3 to 14.

Prizes were awarded to the top three anglers in each age division based on the total inches of fish caught. The divisions included ages 3-6, 7-10, and 11-14.

One 14-year-old participant shared how much he has enjoyed the derby over the years and even volunteered to help measure fish at next year’s event.

Our 25th Anniversary Grants were created to support community projects and programs that make an immediate local impact. Thanks to this grant and the dedication of the Inman Lions Club, families were able to come together for a day of fishing, fun, and community connection.

A Night at the (Outdoor) Theater

The second grant will support an upcoming community movie night hosted by the Inman Recreation and Wellness Center in August.

The event will feature an afternoon of games and family-friendly activities, followed by popcorn and an outdoor movie in the evening.

The final date and featured film are still being finalized and will be announced by the Inman Recreation and Wellness Center as August approaches.
